On Friday, June 14, Dr. Stefano Bigliardi will deliver a presentation titled "Haram, Harmless, or Confirming Islam? Teaching and Learning about NRMs at a Moroccan University" at the CESNUR 2024 conference, held at the Université Bordeaux Montaigne. CESNUR, the Center for Studies on New Religions, is a prestigious annual event that brings together leading experts on New Religious Movements (NRMs) from around the globe.

Dr. Bigliardi's presentation will provide insights into his experience of teaching and learning about NRMs at Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane (AUI), Morocco. His work is a collaborative effort with students Jalal Benyougil, Maha Berrami, Kacem Chawqi, and Aya Touile. The presentation will explore the perspectives and interactions between NRMs and Islamic teachings, a topic of increasing relevance in the contemporary religious landscape.

In addition to the presentation, Dr. Bigliardi and his team have produced an academic article based on their research and classroom experiences, which is slated for publication later this year in a scholarly journal. This work underscores the significance of academic inquiry into NRMs and their impact on broader religious and cultural discussions.

The CESNUR 2024 conference, hosted at Université Bordeaux Montaigne, serves as a vital platform for scholars to share their research, engage in meaningful dialogue, and contribute to the growing body of knowledge on NRMs. Dr. Bigliardi's participation highlights AUI's commitment to academic excellence and its role in fostering an understanding of diverse religious movements.
