This year, Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane (AUI) proudly celebrates three decades of innovation, leadership, and unwavering commitment to academic excellence and Morocco’s socio-economic development. Established in January 1995 by the late His Majesty King Hassan II, AUI has risen to prominence as a benchmark institution in higher education, not only within the Kingdom but also across Africa and the international stage.
The founding Royal Dahir laid a strong foundation for the University's success. Furthermore, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God Assist Him, entrusted a prestigious Board of Trustees with overseeing, supporting, evaluating, and ensuring the institution’s achievements. The Board includes distinguished members such as Mr. André Azoulay, Advisor to His Majesty King Mohammed VI; Mr. Abdellatif Jouahri, Governor of Bank Al-Maghrib and Chancellor of the University; six government ministers; the President of CGEM; the CEO of OCP; the Director General of CDG; the Director General of ONHYM; presidents of four major banks; and other prominent figures from the industrial sector and civil society. His Majesty also approves the appointment of the University President.
As AUI celebrates its 30th anniversary, it continues to push the boundaries of exceptional higher education, embodying a legacy of excellence and contributing to shaping a brighter future for Morocco and beyond.
