Al Akhawayn University (AUI) and the American University of Sharjah (AUS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to launch a strategic academic partnership focused on Arabic and Islamic studies, digital humanities, language pedagogy, and ethical AI.

This collaboration unites two leading institutions in the Arab world, both known for their commitment to academic excellence, cultural exchange, and research-driven innovation. Through this agreement, AUI and AUS aim to foster joint research initiatives, faculty and student exchanges, and the development of global platforms for Arabic language, literature, and culture.

“At the heart of this partnership is a shared vision: to preserve cultural heritage while shaping the future of education and technology,” said a representative from Al Akhawayn. “We’re not just exchanging knowledge—we’re building bridges between disciplines, people, and institutions.”

The partnership is expected to contribute significantly to the advancement of interdisciplinary research and to elevate the role of Arabic and Islamic studies in today’s digital world. It also marks a step forward in the integration of ethical frameworks into the development and application of artificial intelligence across diverse cultural contexts.

This MoU is a clear reflection of the growing momentum behind academic cooperation across the MENA region, reinforcing the Arab world's place in the global conversation on education, culture, and innovation.
