AUI Professors Therrien and Oumlil Participate in EU H2020 International Policy

AUI Professors Catherine Therrien (lead investigator) and Kenza Oumlil (co-investigator) participated in a European Union H2020 International Policy Council at the University of Milan in Italy last week, from May 12-13, 2022. As part of the EU project “Interconnecting Histories and Archives for Migrant Agency: Entangled Narratives Across Europe and the Mediterranean Region," led by the Italian university Università Degli Studi di Modena E Reggio Emilia (UNIMORE), and with the participation of 12 institutions in Europe and North Africa, Therrien and Oumlil presented the findings of a national and local policy council held in Rabat on January 26, 2022, on the topic of media representations and self-representations of Sub-Saharan migrants and institutional communication with migrants, particularly in times of Covid in the Moroccan context. Therrien and Oumlil also presented suggestions that emerged from the discussion with the different stakeholders (civil society associations, government representatives, and journalists) about how to improve communication about migrants and migration during the pandemic.
