Hissam Kamal Hassan is relatively new to academia, but was an experienced international finance professional who focused on large international corporate finance deals (US$ millions/billions). He started his career in London and has also lived and worked in the Middle East (UAE and Saudi Arabia) and East Asia (Malaysia), where he led many award-winning capital market transactions. He has worked in cross-border private equity (with a Sovereign Wealth Fund) and international Islamic capital markets (with international investment banks and a multilateral development bank).
In academia, as well as giving academic courses, he has given professional-level courses and presented at international conferences. He has written papers and chapters in books and is a reviewer of academic papers for ISRA (Malaysia), where he was a research fellow. He is currently finalising his PhD dissertation on Islamic capital markets and Fintech, and has a Masters in Islamic Finance from INCEIF (Malaysia) and a BSc (Hons) in Economics from UCL (England). He is an FCA Approved Person (UK-corporate finance), a Chartered Accountant (ICAEW-England), and a Chartered Tax Advisor (CIOT-UK).
