Dr. Amakhmakh obtained a PhD degree in Theoretical Linguistics from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. I have been at AUI since its inception. He has taught different courses, namely Critical Thinking and Written Communication, Writing for the Professions, English Composition One and Two, Writing for Business, and Communication through Speaking; some of these courses are no longer offered. He has served the university in many capacities (Chair of AAC, Parliamentarian for the AC, and University Coordinator in the VPAA Office). I served as Undergraduate and Graduate Coordinator for SHSS. He sat on many committees in different capacities, both at the level of the School and the University. He has also been director of the ARANAS Summer Program and taught Arabic to international faculty, their spouses, and international students. His research interests are in theoretical linguistics and curriculum development.
