Pr. Rachidi obtained his first degree in Computer Engineering and Computer Science from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Informatique et de Mathématiques Appliquées de Grenoble (ENSIMAG) in France in 1989. He then went on to earn a Ph.D. from Essex University, U.K. in 1995, specializing in Computer Vision. Pr. Rachidi joined Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane in 1995, where he currently holds the position of full Professor of Computer Science and Dean of the School of Sciences and Engineering.
His current research interests include SOC embedded systems design, cryptography, the applications of machine learning to intrusion detection and cybersecurity, and onboard computers for nanosatellites.
Pr. Rachidi co-patented 3 findings in Europe, US, Japan, and Korea, and published about 80 peer-refereed papers in journals, conference proceedings, and book chapters. He consulted for both the private and public sectors in Morocco. He is also the general chair for the Africacrypt conference series.
