International applicants living in Morocco:

At Al Akhawayn University, you are considered an international student if you are not a Moroccan citizen regardless of your place of residence.

International applicants living outside Morocco:

Some International candidates with good academic achievements may be granted direct admission. In this case, they should have spent at least the last two years of high school in an international institution outside Morocco.

To prevent delays, you should arrange to have timely completion of all the required documents and test scores submitted to the Office of Admissions and Outreach well in advance of the application deadline.

The TOEFL is required for all non-native speaker applicants

International freshman

General Admission Conditions

1. Review of high school records and credentials.

2. A satisfactory oral interview.

International candidates with good academic achievements may be granted direct admission.

Applicants whose primary language of instruction was not English are required to submit the results of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) (see English Language Proficiency)

International candidates with good academic achievements may have direct admission.

N.B: Placement tests in Arabic, French, and English writing will be administered to undergraduate applicants, where appropriate for course placement.

  • Upload the required documents via the online application step 2 (Candidate File Creation):
  • Application fee of 500 Dhs for international candidates resident in Morocco during the 5 last years and paying Moroccan taxes or with one parent of Moroccan nationality. (See Method of payment)
  • Application fee of 800 Dhs for international residents outside Morocco. (See Method of payment)
  • High school transcripts with a certified English translation if the transcript appears in its original form in other languages than English, Arabic, or French.
  • High school diploma with a certified English translation if the transcript appears in its original form in other languages than English, Arabic, or French
  • One Copy of the Passport
  • One (1) passport-size recent color photograph
  • Motivation letter
  • Enrollment certificate of all institutions attended after Baccalaureate (For old baccalaureate only)
  • Grades obtained in all institutions attended after Baccalaureate (For old Baccalaureate only)
  • TOEFL score report if applicable
  • SAT or ACT score report if applicable
  • High school diploma with a certified English translation if the Diploma appears in its original form in other languages than English, Arabic, or French

International Graduate

General Admission Conditions

There are three basic requirements for acceptance to a graduate program:

• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, or equivalent

• Strong academic average in course work leading to the “Licence”; or, if graduating from a system using the US higher education model, a ‘B’ average or better in the upper level (junior and senior level) work and in any graduate work already completed; or, other evidence of ability to succeed in graduate study

• Adequate preparation for the proposed graduate program; and, acceptance by the appropriate Admissions Committee Selected candidates may be invited for an interview with the admissions committee.

All graduate students wishing to enroll at AUI to pursue a master’s degree are expected to demonstrate proficiency in the English language. For placement purposes, students for whom English is not the first language must submit a TOEFL score of 550 and obtain a 5.0 score over 6.0 in writing or the equivalent scores in IBT.

  • Official university transcript(s)
  • Certified copy of Bachelor's degree or equivalent or certificate of completion
  • Two letters of recommendation including at least one from a university-level instructor that uses (whenever possible) the standard recommendation form provided on the AUI website: instructor recommendation:
  • One typed essay written by the applicant himself or herself that explains the reasons for seeking admission to the graduate program and that describes the applicant’s background and knowledge of the field.
  • Copy of the Passport
  • Six passport-size recent color photographs
  • Detailed CV
  • Official score report of TOEFL (iBT)/IELTS if applicable

Transcripts, Diplomas, and documents that appear in their original form in other languages than English, Arabic, or French must be accompanied by a certified English translation.
