Scholarship Types Offered based on 16 credits per semester
AUI scholarships are predicated on the following conditions:
Scholarship Conditions
- Scholarships are granted for specific programs but following the student's desire and his/her request to change the major and after obtaining the approval of the releasing school and the receiving school, they may be transferable to other programs outside the school to which the scholarship recipient was initially accepted with no risk of the scholarship termination.
- As part of their scholarship package, full scholarship holders are required to perform unpaid part-time jobs (five hours per week for 80 hours per semester) on the Al Akhawayn campus.
- Scholarship holders can apply for the Exchange Program for one semester only (or for one year when required by the school program), taking a minimum of 15 transferable credits. However, if the student takes fewer than the recommended full-time load, they should be aware of the risk of needing more than nine semesters, in which case they will have to pay for additional courses beyond the ninth semester.
- Students are allowed to use their scholarships during summer sessions as long as they are in good academic standing and do not exceed the total budget committed for the scholarship period.
Applying for Scholarships
Undergraduate scholarships are offered to Moroccan students only.
Students can apply for a scholarship by completing the online scholarship Application form before the established deadline. Highly qualified applicants admitted to the University and meeting the scholarship selection criteria stated below may also be invited for a scholarship interview prior to a final decision. After a rigorous selection by the Al Akhawayn scholarship committee, successful candidates are offered merit-based scholarships.
NB: The process of the scholarship will start, and your application will be evaluated by the scholarship committee once you submit the admission confirmation deposit as required by the Admissions Office. However, any advance payment or deposit you made before joining AUI does not engage AUI to grant you any offer of a scholarship.

A combination of these elements is used to rank undergraduate scholarship applicants and determine the type of scholarship they will be awarded. Students offered a scholarship should confirm their acceptance of the award and of its renewal policy by paying a scholarship deposit before the set deadline stated in the scholarship message.
N.B: High School Diploma must be recently obtained. The scholarship offer may also be extended to one previous Bac year (not necessarily only the first year who are eligible to apply for a scholarship).
Scholarship Renewal Policy for Undergraduates (Bachelor’s Candidates)
Undergraduate scholarship beneficiaries are eligible for Al Akhawayn scholarships for a maximum of nine enrolling semesters (or eight semesters plus two summer sessions), including one semester at the Language Center. The continuation of the scholarship depends on the student demonstrating excellence and successful progress toward the student's studies, as evidenced by maintaining a Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA) of at least 3.00. If the SGPA falls between 2.50 and 2.99, the student will be placed on scholarship probation. If the student fails to return to the required standing, reduction or suspension of the scholarship will apply. If the student obtains an SGPA below 1.50 or obtains "W" or "WP" or "WF" or "F" in all courses at the end of any semester, s/he will be automatically placed on scholarship suspension for the following semester as described in the table below:
Scholarship Regulations:
Continuing students on scholarship placed on academic suspension are subject to have their scholarship package lowered by 50% once they regain their good academic standing by completing at least 12 credits or 4 courses.
Undergraduate scholarship students with an SGPA between 2.90 and 2.99 may write an appeal to the scholarship committee. If the appeal is rejected, the probationary status will apply. If the appeal is accepted, the student is required to return to normal standing (SGPA of 3.0 or above) for the following semester. Otherwise, they will be placed on scholarship probation without the possibility to write an appeal.
Appealing to be removed from scholarship probation is applied only to scholarship holders who are placed on first-time scholarship probation. The appeal can be made only once during their undergraduate studies. To consider the appeal, their school's recommendation, parents' financial situation, and students' involvement in social work or other university activities will be taken into consideration.
Decisions regarding reduction or suspension based on the spring academic results are applied to the following summer and fall; however, summer session results are not taken into account either for probation, suspension, or reinstatement.
Continuing students on scholarship withdrawing from AUI will definitely lose their scholarship package if ever they decide to return to AUI.
Continuing students on scholarship not enrolling at AUI after two successive semesters will definitely lose their scholarship package if ever they decide to return to AUI. Otherwise, they need to reapply for a new scholarship.
Continuing students on scholarships dismissed from AUI for academic reasons will definitely lose their scholarships. Moreover, if ever they are allowed to return back and register again, and then they obtain very good grades at least 3.00/4.00 or better, they do not have the possibility to submit any scholarship appeal for reinstatement to the Financial Aid Office.
Continuing students with serious health conditions may request a retroactive withdrawal from all courses taken during a given semester or term by filling out a “Retroactive Withdrawal Form” available at the DSA (Dean of Student Affaires) Office. This petition must be accompanied by adequate documentation and bear all required administrative signatures mainly the physician’s confirmation of the student’s health conditions. Such cases with completed and approved retroactive forms should be reviewed by the scholarship committee to decide on the student's scholarship status for the following semester.
Scholarship recipients guilty of improper conduct or noncompliance with AUI regulations are placed on scholarship suspension or cancellation.
Students placed on scholarship suspension for many semesters will be placed on scholarship hold so that their scholarship package will be reviewed in case of their scholarship reinstatement.
The scholarship renewal policy adopted by Al Akhawayn is also applicable to students on exchange at the end of their exchange program semester. Passing grades are determined in the Transfer Grades Chart available at the Office of the Registrar and communicated by the Office of International Programs to students when applying to partner universities.
Scholarship students with Language Center courses:
Undergraduate students enrolled in Language Center courses with or without regular courses in their first semester at Al Akhawayn University are allowed to use their scholarship package regardless of their TOEFL score. However, they should be aware that they should not exceed their scholarship period of using their scholarship for 9 semesters only without summer or 8 semesters plus 2 summers. Moreover, they have the possibility to apply for their scholarship extension for an additional semester if ever they cannot graduate by the end of the 9th semester. This extension is subject to the student's academic performance as well as to the scholarship committee's approval.
In order to decide upon students’ scholarship renewal for the following semester, the virtual SGPA is considered for scholarship students registered for Language Center courses or any other course graded on a pass/fail basis (such as French and FAS courses.
