Instructional Technologist

The Human Resources & Administration department invites internal (permanent full-time staff members) and external applicants for the position of Instructional Technologist.

Reporting Line: The position reports directly to the AVP for 21st Century Learning Innovation and Faculty Development.

Position Description Summary: 

The Instructional Technologist works directly with faculty to build and produce online courses and materials and to select appropriate media and presentation
Tools for in-class delivery. The Instructional Technologist consults with faculty and instructional designers, recommends media and tools, and advises on multimedia production issues. S/he acquires and updates skills as necessary for effective instructional technology. The Instructional Technologist installs and maintains instructional hardwareand software. S/he trains faculty members to use and integrate software applications into course planning and delivery. This position provides support and efficient information to campus-level faculty and ensures efficient and effective access to educational technologies and platforms. The Instructional Technologist collaborates with instructional designers and audio/video specialists to ensure high-quality online learning experiences
 
 
Main Duties:
 
  • Running and maintaining educational platforms (LMS/CMS).
  • Administering and maintaining CTL servers (Windows/Linux).
  • Developing instructional training materials.
  • Working with the instructional design team and faculty to create online courses, services, and instructional materials.
  • Providing support and assisting faculty to use IT applications and platforms.
  • Providing training and workshops on topics dealing with technology and coursework delivery.
  • Serving as a development resource and producing documentation and training material in response to instructional needs.
  • Advising on production issues, including content acquisition, multimedia authoring, animation, and graphics.
  • Identifying and sharing effective practices in integrating and implementing new technologies.
  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining software and courseware, as well as troubleshooting problems with computer hardware and peripherals for the CTL.
  • Recommending new technologies, hardware, and software for the CTL.
  • Assisting with and evaluating the effectiveness of technology implementation and providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Researching new instructional technologies for viability within instructional/classroom settings and advising management on equipment and training needs.
  • Exploring, integrating, and supporting the use of AI tools and platforms in teaching and learning environments, including providing guidance to faculty on best practices for leveraging AI to enhance instructional effectiveness and student engagement
Qualifications:
 
Required:
  • Baccalaureate + 2 in IT is a minimum.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with educational technologies.
 
Preferred:
  • Relevant experience in faculty/staff training.
  • Certified on Microsoft Office 365 products.
  • Other IT certifications are a plus
 
Personal and Behavioral Characteristics/ skills(Proposed) / Knowledge and skills:
  • Knowledge of educational resources and online course development processes.
  • Working with various computer technologies.
  • Working with various Operating Systems (MacOS/Windows/Linux).
  • Very good organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
 
Abilities:
  • Ability to prioritize work, take initiative, and handle multiple tasks.
  • Learn quickly, and teamwork ability.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with university departments and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work and deliver on time.
  • Positive attitude and ability to adapt to change.
