On Wednesday, April 9, 2025, the School of Social Sciences, Arts, and Humanities (SSAH) hosted a new edition of the AUI Public Speaking Contest, bringing students together to explore one of today’s most pressing questions: Is social media fueling anxiety and depression among young people?

The contest highlighted the talent, creativity, and critical thinking of AUI’s student body. Participants delivered powerful and persuasive speeches, offering a range of perspectives on the impact of digital platforms on mental health.

Special thanks go to Dean Asma Abbas for her ongoing support and encouragement, and to the Public Speaking Committee—Dr. El Mortaji (Chair), Ms. Sara Maderious, and Mr. Ali Talib—for their dedication in organizing this enriching event.

We also recognize the jury members: Dr. Latifa El Mortaji, Ms. Sara Maderious, and Dr. Hayat Naciri (excused), whose insights and guidance shaped the evaluation process.

A round of appreciation goes to the students who supported the event’s logistics:

  • Younes Anass (timer)

  • Bouziane Abderrahmane (paperwork)

  • Mghari Chama (room setting)

And to SSAH staff—Mr. Saber, Mr. Said, and Mr. Oussama—for preparing the certificates for the winners.

Congratulations to the winners of the 2025 contest:
🥇 Salma MASRAR (BA student)
🥈 Zeineb ELOUAZZANI (SSAH student)
🥉 Malak BELALLALI (SSE student)

Bravo to all participants for making their voices heard and tackling a topic that matters. And hats off to SSAH for continuing to foster a space for dialogue, expression, and leadership.
