Marking an epoch in its commitment to societal issues, Al Akhawayn University participated in the remarkable interuniversity celebration of World Population Day on July 20th, 2023. This paramount event, organized under the banner: "The University at the Heart of the Commitments of the ICPD+30," was a joint endeavor of UNFPA: the United Nations Population Fund and the legal clinic of the Faculty of Legal, Economic, and Social Sciences of Rabat Agdal.
Participation of significant Moroccan universities, including Mohammed V University of Rabat, International University of Rabat, Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University of Fez, Ibn Zohr University of Agadir, Abdelmalek Essadi University of Tetouan, and Hassan II University of Casablanca, along with Al Akhawayn University, made this event a focal point of collective intellectual exchange.
An engaging platform was established for vibrant debates centered on three pressing themes: Youth, women's human rights, and climate change. The fervor with which attendees contributed to the discussions embodied the profound commitment of our universities to engage with societal debates that sculpt the cultural, economic, and political terrains.
One striking moment was the signing of a declaration of commitment by the partner universities, a testament to their active engagement with these pressing issues and their dedication to contribute to positive societal transformation. The declaration was delivered with eloquence by Al Akhawayn University's own standout student, Fatima Salhane, shining a spotlight on the role our university plays in these pivotal dialogues.
