On Thursday, November 5, 2025, the Azrou Center for Community Development, affiliated with Al Akhawayn University, celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Green March with the participation of beneficiaries from the various programs offered by the Center.
The celebration featured a series of activities promoting civic engagement and national pride, including the performance of the National Anthem, patriotic songs, art and cultural competitions, and theatrical performances, all reflecting the spirit of unity and patriotism that marks this historic event.
Continuing the festivities, the Center also took part in the Green March carnival organized by local authorities on November 6, 2025, starting at 3:00 p.m. in downtown Azrou. This national commemoration highlights a pivotal moment in Morocco’s modern history, one that symbolizes the unwavering bond between the Throne and the people and celebrates Morocco’s ongoing commitment to territorial integrity. This year’s anniversary coincides with the adoption by the United Nations Security Council of a resolution reaffirming Morocco’s Autonomy Plan for the Sahara as “the most realistic and viable solution.”
The event also served as an opportunity to honor the visionary leadership of the late His Majesty King Hassan II, the architect of the Green March, and to recognize the continued efforts of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God glorify him, in advancing this historic legacy.
