He holds a Master’s degree from City College of New York and a Doctorat d’État from Abdelmalek Essaâdi University, Morocco, obtained through joint supervision with Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf, Germany.
His research focuses on renewable energy, bioenergy, biomass valorization, circular economy, and environmental sustainability, particularly the conversion of biomass and organic by-products into bioethanol, biogas, and biodiesel. His expertise also includes sustainable and resilient buildings, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), carbon footprinting, resource and energy management, and material flow management.
A two-time Fulbright Scholar, Dr. El Asli has participated in and led international training programs in areas including water management, global health, and Power-to-X technologies.
His teaching spans biology, chemistry, health sciences, environmental risk management, and environment, energy and sustainability at the undergraduate level, and environment–energy–waste nexus and sustainability and industrial microbiology at the graduate level.
