Ahlam Fakhar

Dr. Fakhar’s research applies methods from behavioral economics to bear on topics related to decision-making under uncertainty in developing communities. In particular, she studies applications of behavioral economics to understand risk behavior in rural Morocco. Dr. Fakhar has been involved in consumer behavior-related research, and her recent projects include conducting field experiments to elicit the risk preferences in Northern Morocco to understand strategic farming decisions. In collaboration with a group of colleagues, her work was financed by Forum Euroméditerranéen des Instituts de Sciences Économiques (FEMISE) and Observatoire National du Développement Humain (ONDH). Dr. Fakhar earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Economics from Claremont Graduate University, California. Prior to coming to Al Akhawayn University, she taught as a lecturer at California State University Fullerton, CA, and as a visiting assistant professor at Bates College, ME.
