Elias Saleeby

Elias Saleeby is an Associate Professor of Mathematics in the School of Science and Engineering at Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane, where he has taught since 2023. He holds two PhDs from the University of Arkansas, one in Mathematics and one in Chemical Engineering where he held the Philips Petroleum fellowship for 3 years. He also earned an MS in Mathematics, and an MS in Chemical Engineering there, and a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Surrey, UK. Before turning to academia, he worked as a process design and development engineer with Fluor-Daniel on DuPont and Hoechst-Celanese projects in the United States. Over more than two decades of university teaching, he has held visiting faculty positions at Indiana University, University of Arkansas, and University of South Carolina and taught at several universities in the ME.

Along the way, he chaired or headed mathematics departments and helped design new degree programs. His research covers the theory of functions of complex variables and nonlinear PDEs, population balance and crystallization modeling, geometric Monte Carlo methods, mathematical finance, and Bayesian time-series prediction. He has published refereed articles in journals including the Proceedings of the AMS, the Journal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, Chemical Engineering Science, and Monte Carlo Methods and Applications. He has taught across the mathematics curriculum, from calculus and linear algebra to differential equations, probability and statistics.
