Eric Ross is a cultural and urban geographer. He earned a M.Sc. in Geography at Université du Québec à Montréal (1990) and a Ph.D. in Islamic Studies at McGill University (1996). He is currently a professor at Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane, Morocco, where he has been teaching geography and research methods since 1998. Ross has conducted research on Sufi institutions and urban processes in Senegal (Sufi City: Urban Design and Archetypes in Touba, University of Rochester Press, 2006; Grid Planning in the Urban Design Practices of Senegal, Springer, 2020). He also studies cultural heritage, tourism, and urban planning in Morocco (Assessing Tourism in Essaouira, Al Akhawayn University Press, 2002).
