Dr. Kenza Oumlil is the Dean of the School of Social Sciences, Arts, and Humanities (SSAH) at Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane (AUI), effective August 1, 2026.
 
Dr. Oumlil has been a dedicated member of the Al Akhawayn University community for more than thirteen years, serving with distinction in a range of academic and leadership roles. Before this appointment, Dr. Oumlil served as Associate Dean of SSAH and Associate Professor of Communication, with extensive experience in academic governance, program development, and institutional leadership.
 
Dr. Oumlil has served as Chair of the Academic Council and Chair of the Faculty Evaluation Committee and has held key program leadership roles, including Program Lead of the MA in Communication Studies and Digital Media and Coordinator of the BA in Communication Studies. Dr. Oumlil also serves as Morocco Coordinator for the Arab-European Association for Media and Communication Researchers (AREACORE), supporting international collaboration and mobility.
 
Dr. Oumlil earned a PhD in Communication from Concordia University in Montréal, Canada. An internationally recognized scholar specializing in media, representation, and gender, Dr. Oumlil is the author of North American Muslim Women Artists Talk Back (Routledge, 2022). Research has been published in leading journals, including Feminist Media Studies and The Journal of North African Studies, and Dr. Oumlil has delivered invited lectures and talks at prominent universities worldwide.
 
Dr. Oumlil has received major international research funding as principal investigator or co-applicant, including grants from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), the European Union Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Program, and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). Additional distinctions include a First-Place Best Paper Award from the Arab–U.S. Association for Communication Educators.
 
In addition to academic achievements, Dr. Oumlil contributes to national-level training and education, including teaching at the Royal College of Higher Military Education (CREMS). This work reflects a strong commitment to connecting academic knowledge with institutional and societal impact.
