Khadija Darmame

Dr. Khadija Darmame is a geographer and has over 20 years of professional and academic experience in the field of Development, focusing on environmental policy, water governance, poverty alleviation through local development, and civil society participation. She combines the usually separated specialist fields of natural, human, and social development into an innovative, combined research approach. She began her career in 1998 in France as an MSc researcher and Ph.D. candidate on access to urban services in poor areas in Morocco and Jordan’s public policies and water privatization. In 2007, she was awarded a three-year post-doc fellowship by Reading University in the UK as a team member of the Water, Life, and Civilisation in Jordan Valley project. She conducted numerous fieldwork missions in Europe and the Arab region on human development and public policies, and the implementation of diverse approaches to local development. She also worked with different academic institutions, research centers, and international organizations, like the WB, UNDP, and the EU in coordinating monitoring missions, reports, and organizing workshops and seminars. She enjoys the ability to deal with challenging situations and to work in a multi-cultural team.
