Nizar Messari

Nizar Messari is an Associate Professor at Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane, Morocco. His areas of expertise are Theories of International Relations and Critical Security Studies. During the academic year 2021-22, he was Rice Scholar at Yale University’s MacMillan Center. He is also a member at large of the International Studies Association Governing Council for the exercise 2022-23. At Al Akhawayn University, he was Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (2012-17) and then Vice President for Academic Affairs (2017-21). Before joining Al Akhawayn University, he was an Assistant Professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), Brazil.
He is also the co-author, with João Pontes Nogueira, of an IR Theory textbook in Brazil: Teoria das Relações Internacionais: Correntes e Debates. (Rio de Janeiro: Elsevier/Campus, 2005), 9th. Edition
