Omer Cayirli
School - SBA Office - Building 16, Office 017 Office hours - Office extension -Dr. Omer Cayirli is a faculty member at the School of Business Administration at Al Akhawayn University. Before joining AUI, he served as a Lecturer in Empirical Finance at Vietnamese-German University, where he taught undergraduate courses in statistics and applied financial econometrics, alongside a broad finance curriculum spanning investments, corporate finance, financial markets, portfolio management, and derivatives across undergraduate and graduate programs.
He holds a Ph.D. in Accounting and Finance from Manisa Celal Bayar University and an MBA in Investment Management from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Before joining academia, he served as an Internal Controller at T.C. Ziraat Bankası A.Ş., as an Assistant Specialist in the Markets Department of the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye, and as a consultant to small and medium-sized enterprises.
His research examines political economy, institutional fragility, financial risk, asset pricing, forecasting, financial stability, and crisis management, with particular interest in how institutional structures and incentives shape economic and financial outcomes.
