Research and Learning Services Librarian
The Human Resources & Administration department invites internal (permanent-full-time staff members) and external applicants for the position of Research and Learning Services Librarian

Reporting Line: Research and Learning Services Unit Head.
Position Description Summary:
This position includes assisting library patrons in the use of library services, materials, and resources. S/he should help library patrons locate, find, check in and check out library materials and facilitate their access to electronic resources. An R&LS Librarian is also expected to offer library instruction to students and staff. S/he also participates in M6L projects under the coordination of the C&A Unit, including activities related to collection development, electronic resources, IT services, and physical library spaces.
Main Duties:
- Carry out circulation and reserve transactions (check in/out, renewals, place holds, etc.)
- Conduct re-shelving, shelf-reading, sort books, publications, and other items according to established procedures and ensuring that the physical stacks are well organized.
- Respond to reference questions (in-person or online)
- Reply to circulation, reserve, & reference emails daily
- Submit monthly statistics (fines, reference, & reserve statistics)
- Sign library clearance forms
- Process online reserve for materials
- Provide library instruction workshops to library patrons, under the supervision of the R&LS Unit Head
- Guide and instruct patrons on how to find and use library resources, whether physical or electronic
- Inspect returned books for condition and due date status, compute and collect any applicable fines.
- Attend workshops about library databases, electronic resources, LMS modules, and library collection development.
- Enforce respect of rules and regulations by library patrons
- Manage the ALspaces keys and ensure that the spaces are locked following their use.
- Collaborate with the IT Services Coordinator and Collections and Access Unit team on projects and tasks as needed.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Create user accounts for M6L patrons.
- Lead orientations, tours, and visits inside the library
- Provide assistance and training to part-time job students.
- Collaborate with Collections and Access team.
- Perform other tasks and duties as assigned
Qualifications:

bachelor’s degree in library and/or Information Science or equivalent field (required)

M.S. in Library and/or Information Science (preferred)
-
Experience working in an academic/university library (include internship or part-time positions)

Experience in library instruction (desired)

An excellent command of written and spoken English.

Strong command of Arabic & French

Familiarity with basic library services, practices, and procedures

Basic knowledge of Library of Congress classification system

Customer services skills
- Personal and Behavioral characteristics / IT skills

Adaptability and flexibility

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, and patrons.

Ability to learn and serve in all Library areas.
